A : You can visit Iolani Palace on a self-guided audio tour or on a guided tour with a Palace Docent. Both Iolani Palace tours take 60-90 minutes to complete and include a visit to the first floor, second floor, and basement gallery. Self-led audio tours cost $20 for adults and guided tours cost $27.

When was Iolani Palace built?

A : Iolani Palace was completed in 1882 by King Kalakaua and served as the royal residence until 1893. The design was inspired by Kalakaua’s extensive travels around the world, especially the grand palaces of European monarchs. It took just over two years to complete and cost $340,000 to build.
