take in the island's beautyon this waikiki Hike With Waterfalls

If lush rainforests, colorful tropical flowers and cascading waterfalls are your thing, then a quick hike on Manoa Falls Trail is for you. A short and easy walk takes you along a well-tended gravel path that winds its way through thick forests filled with guava, eucalyptus, banyan trees and bamboo. Inhale the fresh scent of nearby ginger patches. Then when you reach your final destination, picturesque Manoa Falls, let the water lull you. If the area looks familiar, that's because scenes from both Jurassic Park and Lost World were filmed here.

FAQs

A : If you hear tales from locals about their youth spent swimming in the cool, refreshing waters at the base of the falls, believe them. For years, the reward for hiking the sometimes-muddy trail was a refreshing dip in the crystal clear pool. Many families spent hours swimming and playing in this natural swimming hole. Unfortunately, a large rock slide in 2002 covered the area with boulders and sharp rocks, making it dangerous to get in to the water. Today, Manoa Falls is best enjoyed from a safe vantage point nearby.
A : By Oahu hiking trail standards, the path to Manoa Falls is fairy easy to navigate. Most of the trail is a hard-packed gravel surface, making it a breeze to hike. The only caution point is in the final 100 yards of the trail, where large boulders present a slight obstacle course. While it will involve a bit of extra effort to navigate over the big rocks, it is worth it. Of course kids will find it fun, making the trail relatively safe for all ages.
